How it works:
- A social media site is a website that connects people and allows them to see their online activity like posted pictures, videos, status, opinions on any given subjects and even real live tracking (like geotaged pictures and places you are currently visiting).
- Social media sites like Facebook and Google+ are free websites that allow a certain level of customization. This is benefitial to the student because they don't need special skills to use the site.
- Projects created in this type of website can easily be seen and followed by everyone with an account. This also makes it easy to show and share with people outside the classroom.
- Any type of project can be posted or created here. But it has a special use for those projects that need to be evaluated by others or for prjects that are competing among each other.
Using this activity in the classroom:
- It is very important to make the students understand that a social networking project is not only about social networking. The content in the project is as important as sharing it with other people.
- Evaluating a project of this type has to be done considering all types of intelligence. This project gives a lot of freedom to express the students' ideas and ingenuity.
- Requirements like including videos, pictures and links should be established at the begining of the prtoject so students know what and what not to include.
- This project can be used to keep track of other projects/assigments/ activities in the class.
