Intelligence type: Mathematical, verbal, visual & interpersonal.
Number of students:
- Better done individually or in pairs
How it works:
- This activity is a simpler version of a concept map. It can be the basis to create one or its summarized version.
- It is better to do it when you already know the basics of a subject.
- The purpose of this activity is to link ideas to a central subject and ideas to other ideas until you have a "web."
- Use small phrases or words that identify an entire idea.
Using this activity in the classroom:
- An easy way to identify the right ideas and how they are linked together is to first write a summary on the subject and design the web based on it. So you might want to review the subject in a previous class or session.
- When done individually it gives the students a chance to compare their "webs" and clarify ideas among one another.
- It is a good tool to measure the knowledge of students in any given subject. Many students don't feel comfortable with writen exams. This tool is a good replacement.
